Our Life

"And the Lord gave me brothers..." St. Francis of Assisi

As an Institute of Religious Life, we members of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope lead a life of brotherhood. We address each other as Ndugu (a Swahili word for brother/sister or a close relative) to encourage the building of familial bonds among the members of the Institute.

From our houses of formation to our communities of apostolate, we members of the Franciscan Missionaries of Hope are always grateful that the Lord has given us the graces we need to build vibrant communities.

FMH Houses of Formation

Members of our Institute are introduced to a life of brotherhood in our houses of formation: Postulancy, Novitiate, and Scholasticate, which presently are all in Kenya. When you visit any of our houses of formation, you will encounter a joyful band of brothers who will be ready to share with you our story and way of life.

On-going Formation

On-going formation is an opportunity for all the brothers, especially those who are in ministry and apostolates, to come together as a fraternity and share their stories. On-going formation takes place whenever brothers gather for seminars and workshops, retreats and days of prayer.

Fraternitas

Brotherly relations are encouraged at personal and fraternity levels. Fraternal gatherings are to be marked by common prayer, sharing of life experiences, and common acts such as meals, discussions and recreations.
